This number is your vaginal pH. A pH of 4.5 with the symptoms of itching, burning, unusual odor or
discharge may be a yeast infection. A pH of 5.0 -7.5 may indicate you have a different kind of vaginal
infection. The chart below can be helpful. It is not for diagnosis since infections vary in the way they
manifest, but it may be helpful when discussing your symptoms and pH with your doctor.

Much like other parts of the body, a womans vagina has a pH. A healthy vagina is slightly acidic,
with a pH usually in the range of 3.5 to 4.5. A normal vaginal pH measures 4.5 with this kit. The
acidity of the vagina helps control bacteria and prevents the infection-causing types of bacteria
that like a high pH from overgrowing. When vaginal pH is above its normal range, it may indicate
a bacterial infection.
There usually are symptoms with an infection. The Vagisil Screening Kit® is intended for use by
women who have itching, burning, unpleasant odor or unusual discharge. It does not identify
specific causes or types of infections. Only your doctor can do that.
